So let me start out by saying two things:

  1. I actually wrote this post May 26th, 09 - I backdated because I've decided to start using this blog again as a journal of my life & adventures, no matter how small I guess ;-)
  2. I LOVE having girls!

One cold Sunday in January we decided to stay in where it was warm, have a fire, listen to some soft music and just have a creative day :)

I was scrapping, as you can see by my MESS ;-) - Tween had some fashion design books she was working with from Santa, Princess was scrapping/coloring, and Lil Miss was coloring too ... in between snacks anyway ;-)
It was such a nice relaxing way to spend a Sunday with my girls while DH was working :) They make me smile so much, our girl time is so special to me!

This is Lil Miss's first game of Candyland! I was getting ready for some girly time with a friend of mine, so she and Daddy had some bondy time of their own!

Turns out they played something like eleventy hundred games after I left, but DH said she loved it SO MUCH and had such a great time playing, that he just going!

Um ... yeah ... she has a problem with clothes lol WELL she has a problem keeping clothes ON actually. But she was just SO cute, they both were :)

This winter we were treated to a couple of unseasonably warm days here and there and we made the most of them! One weekend in late January we were bored so we took the kids out and searched for a new park to check out.

We took the kids' bike/scooter and attemped to teach Lil Miss how to use her trikey from Santa :) She wasn't really getting it exactly, but liked walking it around just as much ;-)

Then it was on to the playground! She loves the park :) and we love getting them out of the house, so it works out well ;-)

DH and I took the opportunity to talk uninterrupted for awhole 6ish minutes! Hahaha that doesn't happen at home ;-) And then after running around like a lunatic for awhile another magical thing happens...

Someone goes down without a fight ;-)

She wrapped herself up in my sweater, grabbed her cup and snuggled up in a blankie :) Before I even knew what she was doing, she was passed out on the couch! She looked so cute all snuggled up like that! January was a good month for our little family :)

So I realized today (july something 2009) that I did not write a Christmas DAY post! So since I'm trying to update everything I'll go ahead and do that. Yes, I am aware of how OCD that all sounded and I'm fine with it ;-)

So this year (2008) was different from last year in that we didn't have our older kids Christmas Eve. That made things ... different. It just didn't feel like Christmas. Not to say that Lil Miss isn't all kinds of Christmas fun, but it just felt like something(s) were missing and it wasn't Christmas yet.

So we woke Lil Miss up dark and early so we could be on time to get our older kids. She came down the stairs and started FREAKIN OUT! She was so excited! It was hard to tell her she could only open up ONE present and then we had to LEAVE!

She chose her present from Santa ...

And Santa was good to her ... even though he knew how much I HATED this stupid show, he got her the Dancin Brobi ANYWAY. Boy, that Santa, he's a HELL of a guy ;-)

At first she was a little unsure of this odd looking {to say the LEAST} green monster ...

And in fact didn't want to touch him. Which I'm sure worried Santa thinking she ... I mean HE ... compromised his morals and got this stupid toy for NOTHING ....

And then ... she touched it ...

And it was DANCE PARTY USA up in here yo ...
It didn't stop a'rockin either ... until we had to tear her from her beloved creepy Brobi and go get the older kids. We drove 45 min to go get the Boy, then another 30 to the girls, then 45 min back home.

It was a LONG morning by 9am when we got home, but those sweet little faces made it the best. day. ever! While the kids got dressed into their Christmas finery, I made the traditional Christmas Breakfast, going back generations, of Pilsbury Cinnimon Rolls with the ooeiest gooiest icing ever!

Then we all sat around the tree and did things a little differently this year. Instead of the traditional FREE FOR ALL that starts with a cloud of flying wrapping paper and ends 5 minutes later with toys heaped in piles ... I wanted something more.
So we did ONE. present. at. a. time. It was GREAT! We ALL got to enjoy the excitement of EACH person opening EACH gift! It took quite a little while too so we had TIME to enjoy the whole event. AND had time to take pictures!

The kids seemed to enjoy the new way of doing things too so I'm sure we'll do it this way next time.

The kids all looked so happy and so cute and so sweet! All dressed up and stuff! It was such a great morning.

So after all the paper was shredded it was time to get down to business!

All of the kids picked out their favorite new toy and started playing while we adults worked on dinner.

Santa got Tween the cutest fashion design/paper doll book and BOY did she fall in LOVE with it! Santa knew she was a budding fashionista so he got her a few gifts that would encourage her ... who knows ... she could be the one to make the big bucks and put me up in a NICE old folks home :)

Lil Miss's favorite thing was more cinnimon rolls ;-)

and MORE cinnimon rolls! She snuck that one ...

So the kids played ...

the adults {or soon-to-be adult} cooked and talked ...

and enjoyed some lovely wine ...

While DH worked on dinner and my mom played with the kids, I set the table. This is lovely table setting with my grandmother's china :) this is MY favorite holiday tradition

I think this was Lil Miss's favorite ;-) she was on her Nana like white on rice!

THIS was definetily DH's favorite part! He is a HELL of a cook let me tell you. This year we had prime rib for Christmas dinner as after Thanksgiving he is so OVER turkey LOL

This is me using the auto function on the camera to TRY and get a picture of the whole family sitting down to eat.

The SPREAD -prime rib was the star of the show of course, and we had garlic mashed potatoes, green bean somethingorother, corn, carrots, pink jello salad, and something else I can't see what it was LOL

After dinner while the adults were cleaning up and getting dessert ready, the kids started up DANCE PARTY USA all over again lol

Then we sat down and enjoyed my homemade pumpkin pie by yours truly :)

And after dinner we were treated to our "Holiday Players"! Every holiday the kids all get together and put on a little show for us ...

They get so excited and have so much fun putting it on, it's usually pretty good too!

Then I actually got a pretty darn good picture of all of them by the tree! I KNOW, I was as shocked as all of you! lol Then it was time for bed ... and it's a good thing ...

because Mom & Dad were BEAT!

Then after the kids were in bed & my mom was on her way home, we got our second wind and the quest for world domination began! A bottle of wine later and France conceded!! Unfortunately ... I was France :-( LOL

But over all, it was a great day. I love Christmas. I love the family together, I love the kids faces lit up with excitment, I love the special occassion foods, I just love everything about it! I'm getting excited for this year already!

And FINALLY! It's Christmas Eve!

So this year we had our kids Christmas morning. Which meant Christmas eve they're with the other parents ... let me just say ... IT SUCKS.

There's just something about it, it just doesn't feel like Christmas without them there for all the build up. It's not that we don't have Lil Miss to do those things with, it just feels like something(s) are missing ...

So we did our best to keep the Christmas spirit up! I had some last minute stuff to get so I took off early and left DH home with Lil Miss. Turns out he had some stuff to get too so he took her with him.

Just as I was about to head home, somewhat frustrated, sort of sad ... he called and said "Let's meet up and start celebrating!"

So we did! We met for lunch and a drink to celebrate making it through the rabid crowds on Christmas Eve!

We let Lil Miss help make some cookies for Santa

and try to feed them to daddy ... lol

She was soooo proud and SOOOO excited about Santa coming to our house

After she was in bed I made pies for Christmas dinner, we got the presents set up, stockings ... stocked, took some pics, and were off to bed.

It was a quiet night. Not bad exactly, just different. Then we were up bright and early to get the kids Christmas morning!

So my birthday is ALSO in December!

This year my very best friend was visiting California from Kennessee and decided to extend her trip 2 days JUST so she could be here for my birthday! :D So my family and I met her and hers at ... you guessed it ...

LOL

OMG I LOVE this pic, came out SO CUTE

So while my hubs showed hers around the GIGANTIC hunting/fishing MECA, we let the kids run around Santa's village.

Our kids have so much fun together ... that's my little WEEWAH :D lol

And my Tween with her little man

Princess concentrated VERY hard on her picture and letter for Santa

All the kids sat down and tried to decide what they wanted the big man to bring them

Lil Miss was VERY specific ... according to Tween ;-)

Then we folded up the letter and pictures and put them in Santa's mail box!

Santa even replies! via email in these high techy days ...

Tween & Princess then left with their dad, and after we wrestled our men away from various forms of hunting/fishing paraphenalia we headed back to our house. We freshened up and then headed out for a LOVELY dinner!

The men folk sent us ahead to enjoy a little girl time away from the kids chaos.

Then they met up with us and we all enjoyed an AWESOME dinner

BFF and her honey

Me and mine :D

LOL The kids did pretty well throughout dinner ...

PRETTY well ... LOLOL

Then the men folk took off with the kids to get them put to bed and us chicas got to hang out and have another drinky-poo :D then took a cab home.
OMG we had the BEST time! It was a great birthday!
